A.R. Hopwood

A.R. Hopwood makes art in response to psychological research into suggestion and misinformation. In 2019, he initiated and co-curated Smoke and Mirrors: The Psychology of Magic at Wellcome Collection exploring how memory, perception and reasoning can be misdirected by charismatic performers. From 2013-2018 he toured his False Memory Archive internationally, including a public archive of ‘false’ memories, touring exhibition, book, music project, event series and scientific paper. Since 2003 he has also worked under the guise of WITH creating artworks that explore the psychology of self-deception.
